John Pooge was born in Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.

He married Katherine Younger. She was born in Clackmannanshire, Scotland. She was the daughter of James Younger and Katherine Thorebrand.

Their children were:

Robert Pocke (born 10 June 1641 in Edunburgh, Midlothian, Scotland)
